The pole pieces are on top. The height screws are to the left ant right of each pickup.

on the subeject, does anyone know where i can get a left handed strat pickguard that take H/S/S?

i have asked WD Music,l and they charge more than right handers, its something like £5 as opposed to £15,

i only want a regular 3 ply (W/B/W) pickguard, as close to an original as possible.

anyone got any ideas?
