59 vs. antiquity in sg

Re: 59 vs. antiquity in sg

I played with the antiquities quite a bit today. I just can't get a good sound with them. So out with them! Next up, an old pair of Seths with an A5 neck and an A4 bridge. Let's see how this works out...

Oddly enough, as much as I love this guitar, I think those full-size pickguards on SGs are ugly as all get out. The rest of the fiddle makes up for it, though, where it matters. I keep planning on doing some kind of funky conversion or something different with it, but never get around to it.

+1. I'm currently putting A5 (neck)/A4 (bridge) magnets in a pair of '57 Classics for a batwing SG Std, which are also PAF PU's with stock A2's. The A5 opens up the neck, and the A4 gives the bridge enough treble for bite, and keeps the mids. I use two 500K pots on the neck, and two 250K's on the bridge, which gives the bridge more punch, but it may be a little too dark for some players.

With the batwing, take it off & you have 11 holes on the top, which would tough to fix or hide. Don't know that you could do much.
