59b/a2pro hybrid?

I was thinking about this combo for a LP bridge the other day, thinking it might have a little extra mojo ala PG or Antiquity. Has anyone tried this hybrid? Which did you use for the slug coil, and vise versa? Any comparisons? Thanks!

This is a very good question . . .

. . . maybe one of the duncan-GURU's can tell us how such a beast would sound ?

ANYONE ?

i don't think they will have too much variation from each pickup, since they are wound in a very similar range. i think it would depend on what magnet you used that would ultimately determine the sound, whether you opt for the stock a2 or a5 that they came with or get your hands on something else.

I had a 59n/a2pro NECK hybrid a few years ago in a mahogany/maple Schecter. I know its not much help, I don't even remember which magnet it had haha. I do remember that it didn't have the 'boominess' or overpowering bass that the '59n did in that same guitar, it sounded great. I sold it to someone on the forum, though I can't remember who.

See, I'm thinking since they each sound so distinctly different, the fatter, mid-happy AIIPro coil with the scoopier 59 might be a match made in heaven...in theory, anyway.

then you might want to do the hybrid with an a4, which strikes a balanced eq while having one of each coil.

Give it ashot. Nothing vetured, nothing gained.

Re: 59b/a2pro hybrid?

I'm also interested. Judging from soundclips, mind you, the A2pro seems to have a really even tonal response, whereas the '59 is a little jagged; I'll bet the hybrid of the two coils would balance out nicely.
