59's on an Epi Sheraton II

Re: 59's on an Epi Sheraton II

For what you (and I) spent on our Sheratons and upgraded PU's, we have some very nice sounding guitars. For only another $2,000, we could get a "real" 335 that may sound just a little bit better.

Re: 59's on an Epi Sheraton II

I loved the acoustic sound, look, feel, and playability of my Sheraton II, but I added covered '59s and found them to be rather bright, thin, and harsh sounding unless matched with a fat and warm sounding amp. The Sheraton is all Maple, so it's a really bright guitar naturally. Swapping the Alnico 5 magnets for 4, 3, or 2 would have been a great idea, but I sold the guitar instead.
