59's Win.

For the last few weeks I have been doing the PU swap thing in my Eppy G-400 SG copy trying to find what I thought is the best fit for that Guitar. Today I installed a set of 59's and I do believe I have found the right stuff. They sound just great from the little SG. Very articulate and responsive to pick attack. Also sound just fine cranked with some good ol' tubew amp gain.
I have a pair of Seth Lovers in my Ibanez ARC300 that sound fine in it. In the case of the SG, though, I would say they would be sounding thin. The 59's make the SG sound as if it weighed one or two pounds more.
Well anyway Just thought I'd share this with anyone looking for good PU's to put in his SG.

Re: 59's Win.

I think the more pickups you hear in your lifetime, the more you realize there's some designs that got it right the first time.....59's, Seths, and all the Antiquity models. Not to mention vintage Fender and Gibson PAF's.

Re: 59's Win.

Glad the 59s are working for you, they are the most foolproof/universal Duncan PAFs, IME. I have one in the bridge of my SG, too.

Re: 59's Win.

For 60s-70s tones, 59s should come stock in all SGs! Spectacular, even compared to much more expensive pickups.

+1. They are ideal in LP's, SG's, and 335's. I'd guess that they probably have about the highest satisfaction rate of any Duncan.

Way to go. Your extra effort will provide you with answers that you can't get anywhere else... but the quest never really ends... does it? :D

Re: 59's Win.

Been through a lot of pups, (not as much as Stevo....has anyone?) hehe....the 59's in my LP are perfect...they will never come out!
