5E3 and fuzz pedals

So im about 3/4 of the way done building my mission amps 5E3 and i got to thinking about fuzz pedals.

I havent been able to find a fuzz that vibes with my blues jnr at all, or to a lesser extent, my super reverb. At this point in time thats much less important since i almost never play that amp anymore (the super...way too loud).

So anyways, i was wondering if the 5E3, being a much dirtier amp by default, would take fuzz pedals any better?

Christian...im looking at you man, lol. Im sure you have tried about 85% of the fuzzes under the sun.

Re: 5E3 and fuzz pedals

I would think that a fuzz box like the Fuzz Haze would do pretty well.
Even maybe a Soul Bender.
Also, it depends if you like a Muff, or FF type tone.
Also, do look into Barge Concepts (their BB-Jr & BP-1), they are very underrated !

I think they work well with fuzzes ... since a Deluxe is already crunchy though, use judiciously. IMO, the inherent sustain and compression of the amp works well with a fuzz ... you just need to work with the touch sensitive nature of both.

there are a couple of clips on these pages .. the first with my '56 Deluxe, the second with my Mission 5E3:

Thanks. I cant get MP3s from work but ill check em when i get home. Considering you also have the MA 5E3 kit...did you use 8ohm or 16ohm speaker? I cant seem to find anything documented that came with kit which specifies either one.

Cheers

it uses an 8 ohm speaker ... that should be in the documentation or schematic, although I haven't looked at that in a while. You might want to ask Bruce and other builders for suggestions.
