5e3 ftw

Re: 5e3 ftw

Does it have an effects loop? What about MIDI?

Re: 5e3 ftw

The 'ftw' feature is a fantastic old construction method that should be incorporated in a lot more amps, but sadly it is oft neglected.

In this day and age, it could easily be included as a footswitchable option.

Re: 5e3 ftw

single ended is true class a, lots of yummy even order harmonics but hard to get a lot of power

Re: 5e3 ftw

just do it. if you play roots music or blues or rock n roll, just do it. they kick ass

Re: 5e3 ftw

So i borrowed a 5e3 for a recording session a few weeks back. Plugging the tele straight in, and getting all the sounds i need just using the guitar's controls. I reckon a tele and a 5e3 are a perfect combination for that. It was kind a revelation. Ive got other really responsive amps that work great just plugging in, but they all have varying degrees of being too loud in a club when they are really cooking nicely. The 5e3 sounds killer at a level that works well, but more than anything i reckon it is the combination with the tele that really gets the best out of it.
Anyways, it was hard to give it back to to the owner so ive just ordered one from a local builder and getting another dude to make a lacquered tweed cab.
NOt sure what speaker will end up in it (i really dig the celestion gold) but i have a cannabis rex, a texas heat and a private jack to run in it, so ill try each of those over a matter of weeks and make a decision then after seeing how they affect its response and how it sits with the rest of the band.
Happy days.

Right on! I am very interested in your thoughts once it is up and running. Gonna gig it with Butterfly B and Ms Higgins? :)
