'62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Oh man ... I hate you so much! Please delete this thread before my JM GAS comes back in full force.

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Wow.

Great deal, man.

Seriously, I love Jazzmasters.

What kind of music you playing with it? And what amp is it going through?

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

You luck Son of a B !!!!!!!!

Love it, just love It.....I can't wait to finish my Jazzymaster.

Great guitar!

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Sweet. The only problem with those jazzy's is the lack of a Matching headstock..

On the other hand, they sound great! Good steal!

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

I've always preferred Jaguars to Jazzmasters, but that is one nice Jazzmaster. Enjoy it!! it'll do you a lot of good!

I play a little surf here and there, but it's mostly rock and alt-country a la Wilco, Ryan Adams, etc. It's actually Nels Cline that inspired this purchase. I'm playing through a Fender Blues Junior and I use a BYOC Triboost. Germanium full boost + rhythm circuit = fuzzzzzzz.

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

that color combo always reminds me of sonic youth...

but for me JM tone is dinosaur jr.

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

damn you!! but seriously, nice catch. that is one heck of a beautiful guitar.

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Yeah that is beautiful! I don't like tort normally, but I almost like it on that! Beautful guitar.

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

if you would be so kind.. please explain the switches/doodads etc.

from what I see there is a master tone and volume.. 3-way switch LP style.. and 3 black miniswitches.. what are those things?.. series/parallel?.. in/out of phase?

it would be really stellar if you could explain jaguar electronics as well.. are jags basically the same guitar with diff electronics and lower output single coils?.. it seems like the same body at least

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

I'm intending on building one this summer, if I can only settle on Daphne blue versus Seafoam green. Killer Jazzmaster man.

You need an AC30 for it. Trust me. I used to own an MIJ Jazz, sold it so I could snag a killer deal on a rare-ish Gibson Les Paul. I now have an AC30. I'm waiting until I finish that JM project because Jazzmaster into AC30 = tone.

He speaks the truth!! There's a band that played here last night called Beautiful Nothing (AWESOME band, love seeing them play) and one of the guitarists uses a Strat and a Jazzmaster into an AC-30, KILLER TONE!!! He always uses the neck pup on the Jazzmaster and it sounds amazng, so I assume it also would for the bridge.

I don't know much about jags, but there are two circuits of the Jazzmaster: the Rhythm and Lead circuits. The black switch perpendicular to the pickups is the switch between them. When switched down, you're in the lead positions, where the 3-way switch and master tone/volume affect the sound. When switched up, you're in the rhythm circuit, a neck pickup only, almost muddy jazz sound good for chording and such. The other switches you see are actually little roller pots for volume and tone of the rhythm circuit.

I would absolutely love an AC-30, if anyone wants to donate... ;)

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

HAH. Nice :D I actually like white/tort on that one. somehow.

And yeah. I really need to get mine built. Or sell it (the parts). Or something. Too many guitars ;)

The vertical switch is a rhythm lead tone circuit that makes the guitar sound warmer. The other two horizontal black things are the volume and tone for the rhythm circuit. The Jag is the same but has indvidual pup on/off switches and a switch that slightly brightens the sound (heard it called a straggle switch).

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Really nice! I have been intrigued by these guitar myself lately. I mean, it is somehow supposed to be the latest step in the evolution of Fender guitar, more sofisticated, more refined.

I hope I'll catch one in a shop soon just to give it a try. Even though I am more of raw and basic design lover when it comes to guitar... tele all the way!
