'62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

Jazz Rock, the Jazzmaster was created to be the next big Jazz guitar; bigger than the Gibson and Epiphone Hollowbodies at the times. Too bad nobody liked it but the surf and alt-rock guys ;) And yeah, my next guitar will probably be a Telecaster. Can't beat the simplicity!

I can never get enough of a Jaguar. I want a MIJ one with block pearl inlays and sunburst finish SOOOOOOOOOOO bad. and the 24" scale makes doing leads easier to an extent (though not if you're going for accuracy on the high frets).

Re: '62 Jazzmaster Reissue

I don't know much about jags, but there are two circuits of the Jazzmaster: the Rhythm and Lead circuits. The black switch perpendicular to the pickups is the switch between them. When switched down, you're in the lead positions, where the 3-way switch and master tone/volume affect the sound. When switched up, you're in the rhythm circuit, a neck pickup only, almost muddy jazz sound good for chording and such. The other switches you see are actually little roller pots for volume and tone of the rhythm circuit.

I would absolutely love an AC-30, if anyone wants to donate... ;)
that's actually really, really cool.. so basically when you put the black switch in rhythm mode the bridge pickup, 3-way switch, and the volume/tone knobs are bypassed?.. do the slider volume/tone things work on the neck pickup during lead mode (much like a lester where there's master/tone for each pup)?

I could imagine an AC-30 would be perfect for this guitar.. I'd set it up so that I could have a clean rhythm tone with the neck pickup in lead mode and a smooth solo tone with the guitar in rhythm mode (using the top boost).. what a setup at the flick of a switch

I believe this is a culprit

good luck finding the block inlays.. that was a rather rare feature correct?.. also another thing I heard was that the Gibson Firebird was derived from the jazzmaster/jaguar body.. I still wonder if the jazzmaster and jaguar share the same exact body specs

heh, no... JMs are slightly pointier, and have the neck pocket placed for the 25.5 neck... and I think the bridge is out of whack compared to a jag... it really is totally diff, heh
