'68 Princeton

My buddy picked up a '68 Princeton non reverb last night for $150. It's in prime condition, all original minus the power transformer which is missing. There are no signs of anything that has been blown in the circuit, but that will all be checked properly. Question, should he search out an original PT or a replacement? Any suggestions on prefered dealers for either an original or a good replacement?

This is the thread that will officially cause Christian to shoot himself!!! It was good knowing you and hanging out with you Christian! Can I have your Tweed Super?

Re: '68 Princeton

Call my brother Bruce at Mission Amps: 303-423-4103 or http://www.Missionamps.com

I doubt you'll find an original '68 Tranny but Bruce can get you an exact clone of your old tranny.

He put one of his clone power tranny's in my old blackface Deluxe Reverb and it sounds as good or better than it ever did.

Re: '68 Princeton

He can go to mercury magnetics, but he'll probably end up doubling the cost of the amp so far.

Yep, unless he buys 500 of them at a time......

Re: '68 Princeton

You could do an original, a clone, or you could upgrade to an Deluxe Reverb PT and be able to run a 5AR4 and/or 6L6's...this is not a huge collector amp we are talking about, so original is nice but hardly going to pay for itself.
