Yes a Deluxe has 2 6V6's...you can put 6L6's in there and get an increase in bottom and maybe (depending on the type of 6L6 you use) a slight bit more mids...that said I would stay with the 6V6's...NOTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD SOUNDS LIKE 6V6'S!!! They have this amazing natural compression and a sweet, sweet bottom end with a nice sparkling topend and the perfect midrange to blend with it all! A deluxe reverb is an amazing amp, and has a killer tone!

Re: 6V6 tubes?

im not a big fan of under powered 6l6 amps, my old peavey distorts like a mother when i dont want it to.

So 6v6's have a smooth, non-harsh breakup? anyone got samples? I cant wait to get my hands on that deluxe!

and who, in your opinion, makes the smoothest sounding 6v6's?

hhhmmmm lew might have some, he playes through a deluxe, two of them actually. Another good example is the bane Live, ed the lead singer used a deluxe on the secret samadhi album

I really like the JJ 6V6s I put in my Deluxe Reverb II. They have a great, full-bodied sound, almost like a 6L6, but they still sing like a great 6V6 should when you push them.
