7-string pickup magnet swapping question

Hey guys! I am curious about swapping magnets on a set of pickups and my main question pertains to the magnet size... I know that the magnets in the 7-string pickups are 2.625", while most others are 2.5". I've measured if a 2.5" magnet will still fit and cover the pole pieces and it will, but I'm curious if there will be any negative effects of using a slightly shorter magnet...

Is there any downfall to using a shorter magnet on a swap, or would I be safe?

And by chance, would ANYONE have a lead on where I can get an Alnico VIII magnet in the 2.625" length for a 7-string pickup??

As long as the magnet keeps contact with the keeper(s) you'll be alright.

I swapped a regular sized alnico 8 then a ceramic into my seven string with no problem. At worst, with alnico, there is less metal with a shorter magnet so the inductance is a little bit less but I think that’s a lot less of an effect that say using shorter pole pieces.
