7-String pickups for Metal

Hey guys, I got my 7-string yesterday and I'm not really thrilled with the Duncan Designs, they don't have enough crunch to them. If you guys could tell me what ones would give me more, or descriptions of the sound that'd be really awesome.

I forgot to add, it's got the HB-7 pickups and an ASH body if that makes a difference.

Some bands I like include Skillet, Killswitch Engage, Living Sacrifice, etc.

I put a Custom/Jazz set in my RG1527. While the Custom sounds pretty good for some metal rhtyhms, I think I might get a Distortion-7 if I had the choice over again. The Custom just doesn't seem quite aggresive enough for me. I absolutely love the Distortion in my 6 strings. The Jazz does give some pretty good tones in the upper register, plus it sounds good split, too. Just my experience.

I found much happiness with the Dimarzio Tone Zone 7 in the bridge and a PAF Pro 7 in the neck.

I know espousing non-Duncan pickups isn't terribly popular on here but Dimarzio makes a fine pickup and if I had a Duncan to compare it to I would of mentioned it.

One of my 7-string axes has a pair of EMG 707s in, and I like them a lot :)

Unfortunately, you'd have to route your guitar to put them in.

I was looking at putting a JB in the bridge and a jazz in the neck, but I got put off a little by the lead times, so I'll probably look at some dimarzios too for comparison.

I apologize.....it's just a PAF 7.

Either way it's still a great sounding pickup....or is to my ears....which haven't heard any of the Duncan 7......you get the idea.

Too bad the tone wizard doesn't have an option for 7 string guitars, huh?? :D
