7 String Progressive Metal

Need 7 string recommendations. Bonus points if the pickups are available in obnoxious neon colors.

I really love the EMG 85/81 combo for the heavy, but I have that in one guitar now, so I want something different. Leaning toward D Activators, but I’m open to other suggestions. Yes, it’s very important to me that I put neon green pickups in this guitar. I’ve wanted the black/green Universe for forever.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

For 7-strings, my favorite has always been the D Activator set. The Duncan Custom is also a great 7-string pup; had it paired up in a Schecter with a Blaze single coil, so not really sure what other humbuckers it would match up with.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

Green D Activators are my top choice at the moment. The Nazgul/Sentient set sounds pretty good, too, but I don't want black.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

I've got an 8-string Nazgul in my Carvin that I love. The Custom Shop probably could do green, but that would be costly.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

I'd think the Pegasus/Sentient set would be great for that. While the Nazgul is great for heavy stuff, the Pegasus does more things well.

how did the blaze single coil match up with it? I have a Schecter 7 string with a HSS configuration and wondered about the blaze Single Coil for neck and mid.

the blaze is what I'm doing in 7 Neck as well

The Blaze was very nice, matched up great. I no longer have the guitar, but it was really cool and sounded nice.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

Color should fall under the Shop Floor Custom program, and not the Custom Shop. It says 'standard spaced humbuckers', which is correct for a 7 string. You can always ask.

Re: 7 String Progressive Metal

There used to be no up charge, but I think that has changed. If you don't get an answer in a day or so, just call.
