'78 EVH Split Tones?

How does this pickup sound split to single coil? I'm considering using it in a HSS Strat setup and was hoping it would sound good split by itself and with the middle single coil. Any input appreciated.

Its output is pretty modest. They sound pretty good with the PRS-like switching in my Driskill but at only 4.5K per coil, I'd expect 'em to sound pretty weak when split.

I may sound weak when split but, you can always wire it to a switch to change it from series to parallel. Parallel will still give you a sort of single coil sound.

Thanks, guys. I know what you're saying. The series/parallel idea is intriguing. Has anyone actually heard one split? How did it sound? Thanks again.
