8 Weeks for a pup?

I ordered a PATB3 last week at my local shop and followed up on it today. I was told it would be another 8 weeks! I know this isn't the most popular pickup Duncan sells, but 2 months for a pup, you've got to be kidding. :smack: It's a little hard to believe that Duncan doesn't even have 1 in their warehouse.

If I hadn't spent so much time deciding that this was the right one, I might consider going with another model...........hmm I'll continue thinking about that option.

Anyone else experience this kind of wait?

(Venting over......for now!)

it sucks, but it happens. 9 weeks does seem like a long time

Did you try Guitar Heaven in Tennessee? They probably have it in stock right now!

Yeah, there new shop is right down the road from me(I can easily walk there), and they have alot of pups.

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

You might try a couple other online dealers. They might have one in stock, too.

I guess that's one they just make every few months or so. That's a pretty long wait, but a Custom Shop pickup could take that long, too.

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

Ya I thought of going the online route, but I'm up here in Canada. With the exchange rate, shipping, duty, and taxes it doesn't make sense. I'd end up paying more for the pup. I have yet to find a decent online dealer here in Canada. If anyone knows of one, please tell me! I'm also going to phone around a bit more and see if some other stores have it in stock.

I was waiting too long for my TB-4 (white) that Lew ordered. Not his fault, and honestly there are things that are custom that DO take a while to come in. Go to Ebay and other places. Call around. I found one right under my nose in the local music store, so Lew was gracious to let me do a refund. Granted, I had bought two pickups from him already, and he's our local SD pickup guru :D

But it's just one of those things. Please be patient. But try out your options. SD gets a profit whether it's local or internet.

And to be fair, not getting a pickup promptly is a cause of frustration to those who would get SD pickups. Is something wrong with Seymour? Is there any way we as a forum can chip in and help him out?

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

i ordered a CSS+ set direct from SD the first week in May, and they arent here yet. Do I win?

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

I always get suspicious when a non-custom shop order takes more than 4-6 weeks. My guess is that the dealer forgot to order it.

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

Sounds like your dealer is waiting to get a bigger order together

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

I turn down special orders sometimes and I'm thinking of no longer accepting special orders or orders on out of stock items at all. It's not just the Duncan Company...it's WD and other companies too. The wait is just to long and when customers lose thier patience I just don't know what to tell them except to ask: can I please just give you a refund...which I've been doing alot lately. 8 or 9 weeks is just to long a wait and it's not worth the brain drain on me. I take it to personally when people get disappointed in me...even when it's out of my control.

i'm from canada too. i ordered an A2P 2 years ago from my local L&M. 7 weeks and there's still no pup so i just cancelled the order. they say they have to order it from the canadian SD distrubutor which were out of stock too and have to order it too from the SD factory. now i just buy my SDs from online dealers. i recommend wymoreguitars.com or lewguitars .

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

yeah, i know SD just haired some people, and the NAMM show was this weekend...
I also hate to be a bother to the SD factory: 'umm, wheres my pickup?'
I guess these things are *really* backordered.

I've been waiting to even HEAR about a return for 5 weeks...........but on the flip side my CS order got here yesterday....after a two week wait! :fing2: Then I called and talked to Scott Miller about it since I hadn't received a call, email or anything I was worried it didn't get there.

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

Thanks for the help everyone, I've cancelled my local order and gone with Wymore.

Lew, I hear ya. Sometimes **it happens and there's nothing you can do. That's why I didn't bit** out the guys at my local store. In a past life as a comp. hardware provider I've dealt with this exact situation. No product to be had, and a customer who doesn't want to wait! Usually information is king, the manufacturer knows exactly where your order is and why it's backlogged. Giving that info to your customer along with periodic updates usually calms them down.....not always, though! I find that often times the seller doesn't want to get to the bottom of why the wait is so long, or they just take the 1st answer they get from the manufacturer. (not saying that's so with you as you seem to take the situation pretty hard)

Happy thought: I have a new pup on the way, and it should be here on Mon. or Tues. Good times!

Re: 8 Weeks for a pup?

You know, we could form a "Seymour Mafia" and keep tabs on what type and how many of the Seymour Duncan picks we can find locally (in new condition). I know the music store back at Fort Walton Beach (Leitz) has quite a few, I even found a TB-4 all-white JB IN THEIR INVENTORY, usually it's considered a custom shop thing I'm told....
