807 tube????

i can't find any info on these tubes. i've heard they can run in place of 6l6's but i've never heard their characteristics or anything. just numbers that discombobulate me......

so the question is: what do 807 tubes sound like??? what's their headroom??? etc.

You can NOT sub an 6L6 for an 807...for starters a 6L6 is an octal tube (it has 8 pins) an 807 is a 5 pin tube and requires an anode cap.

As for the sound of them they are very clean (much cleaner than a 6L6) but are simply not practical any longer.
