80s 59 with a 1 sticker?

Hi,

I purchased a 1980 Les Paul Heritage Standard 80 a couple of weeks ago in Japan. It came with the original Tim Shaw in the neck, but the bridge has been changed to a Duncan.

Weird thing is that the sticker on the Duncan is 1BP. The baseplate is the S logo with no MIA so I think that puts it 1983-1987?

Did Seymour Duncan ever use a 1 for SH-1 on the stickers for the 59 instead of the 59Bx sticker?

It measures 8kohm.

Just trying to confirm what model it is because everything points 59 except the sticker.

Congrats, its a nice guitar. I had a modified 1982 Elite, they are soild players.
Its surely a 59B. These stickers were mainly for identifying who made the pickup. Maybe Pattie, she‘s mainly doing stacks and rail pickups, had to help out in the humbucker dept. and had no 59 sticker with her winder initial at hand. Just a guess.

Thanks for the reply. I’m loving the guitar. It’s my birth year and I have been wanting one for ages.
Yes I agree, it has to be 59. I wondered if maybe she ran out of stickers on the day so that was the next best thing given its model 1. I asked AI and it said there was a period where they used the catalogue numbers but I can’t find any record of that online.

I do, but I just bought this guitar from Osaka in Japan. Are you referring to the corrosion? It’s just on the bridge I think from sweat and dust I think. The rest of the guitar is in pretty good condition.

Yeah it’s heavy corrosion for sure, but it is a 45 year old guitar and it’s been well played. Plenty of battle scars but I bought it because the price was right, the top and colouring are fantastic and the playing feel is amazing. Draw backs were the battle scars a bit of corrosion and it weighs a tonne at 4.7kg. I play sitting down in my music room so weight really isn’t a concern.

The Tim Shaw neck pickup sounds so good. I’m on the lookout for the matching bridge pickup now just for completeness but the 59 also sounds great.
