I still don't know what the "icepick" sound is. What does that mean?

Some people have experienced the JB being harsh sounding due to an upper mid spike. I have a JB in a mahogany Parker and it sounds great to me. I wanted more out of it so I swapped the Alnico V magnet for a regular ceramic.

Alright, thanks man. I appreciate it. I will check out the videos and see what I think! I also just checked the SD website pickup finder thingy and it suggested a P-Rails neck. Is this the fabled single-coil-voiced humbucker I was thinking of earlier? If so, that sounds awesome! Any input on this?

EDIT: Just checked out the SH-5, I I have to say I do love the sound. Is it as versatile as the JB though? I want to make sure I have all of my bases covered.

the prails is a cool pup, more modern sounding as a humbucker than i usually like but the p90 tone is great and theres lots of usable tonal options.

the custom is just as versatile as the jb

I second a nice A2P at least in the bridge P/U. I like them cheaper than the SLASH and I actually like the A2P-1 better.They can get rude when pushed have nice cleans.IMO a very versatile pickup and great sounding.
