80's Small-box RAT

~1986 Proco small-box RAT distortion pedal, ugly but functional. Inside it's all-original with the LM308 op amp.

The pedal was borrowed years ago by a "friend" who used it extensively for bar gigs, and then returned it (right after he got his record contract, and just before he headed to San Francisco to record his first and last album) without its battery cover. However, I recently obtained from Proco a modern battery cover and thumbscrew, which fit after minor modifications with a nibbling tool and file.

The stomp switch is a bit wonky. It works, but needs a good, solid click. If I was using it live, I'd replace the switch. For around-home or studio use, it's OK as-is for a while longer. If you want, I can replace it with a new Fulltone-style 3PDT switch, or you can save $10 and change it yourself.

A classic distortion pedal with great tone in an indestructible box. Visually, it definitely has mojo - see pics below in post #8. Don't think of it as "rusty", think of it as "relic'd".:bigok:

Prices include shipping to CONUS. (New lower prices!)

$80 - I replace the switch

$70 - You replace the switch

I've always wanted to check one of these out. I havent even tried or heard one in person, not even current production stuff.

Re: 80's Small-box RAT

I have a clone of one, but Rich's price is about the same as a new one, but the old ones are the way to go.

dude, if I had 90 dollars, I'd be all over this like a fat kid on a swimming pool of apple pies. Saddly I only have 30. Could you wait for me to get some more money?
