Hi all I'm new to the forum and have been at a standstill on choosing a new guitar mainly because the few I have come down to I simply haven't played, mainly looking for input on some of these models and how they stack up with each other. I recently sold my 86 Kramer Beretta Kline and am trying to choose between a purchasing a Robin Medley, Hamer Diablo, USA BC Rich Gunslinger, Charvel Model 2, Barrington BRG or 85 Kramer Pacer? main music that i would be playing is just metal from the 80's era (Cirith ungol, omen, savatage) I appreciate any and all input

Re: 80's superstrats

The only ones of those I'm familiar with are the Robin Medley and Hammer Diablo. They're both recommendable. A friend has a few Robins that I used to play and my 2nd guitar was a Diablo. You could go this route too:

I like the Surhs quote a bit, though they are out of my price range. This go around I was looking to spend under $1200 ha

Re: 80's superstrats

Best Superstrat deals out there IMO are the 1992-1995 Washburn USA MG's.
Grover Jackson was running that shop in that era they were all hand built in Chicago. Here are a few of mine and yes they play/sound every bit as good as they look!
95 mg 120

95 mg 102

94 one off MG

1992 MG 92

Nice examples can be had for $300-700 most of the time.

Re: 80's superstrats

As mentioned, Robins-Killer, just hard to find..Charvel model series are great, as are the new charvel san dimas and so cals.
And, of course, cant go wrong with an old Kramer Pacer, Baretta of Focus Series. AND, as mentioned above, the Washburn MGs are great too! lots of choices. Im an 80s metal fan too and have Charvels, Washburn MGs and an 80s kramer. Love em all!!!
First things to narrow down, is what pickup config you want, neck preference, etc.

+1 on Fusions. I own two, an 87 Charvel and a 93 Jackson. Excellent guitars, though a little hard to find.

Fusion brothers unite.

What fusion version is yours? I think mine is the custom.

I need to post my spectrum too. 22 frets yep and a floyd that sounds pretty damn super to me.

Wait a ****ing minute what amp are you using? You could get a ripper rig and guitar for a g no wubs.

Re: 80's superstrats

Hamer Californian for the win.

And hard to argue with anything in Ibanez....

Love me some Cirith Ungol!

Re: 80's superstrats

Sorry to hear about the Kline Kramer...

I've got an old-ish('90) US Hamer Centaura,I'll throw into the mix as well.

Lotsa options, actually,I'm sure you'll be able to find something that speaks to you!
