Project is done........Help is no longer needed......but I appreciate the help I got so much !!!!!!!!!!

My strat has one vol two tones and a 5 pos switch.

I would like to set it up so that the number one back of guitar
position is just the bridge ("59") pup. I would like the 2nd position
to be the bridge and the middle pup. Here is where the big change comes in that I cant find. I would like the 3rd (middle) position to be the back hum and the front hum together (neck and bridge) the 4th pos to be middle and front neck and lastly just the neck in the 5th.

If someone would please point me to a diagram or draw one for me,
I would appreciate it very much.

You can't do bridge+neck in pos#3 with a regular Strat switch. The easiest way would be to get a Megaswitch model E.

If you want to try it out tonight, swap the middle and bridge pickups' leads on the switch. That'll put the bridge pickup in pos#3, but give you all the combinations you want.

Swap the green and black leads on the Duncans when combining with Fender pickups. If the combination sounds thin and nasal, swap back.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

Thank you........I put it all together and put one string on and only the new neck pup worked, and the other two did not. Must be my grounding .........

I appreciate your help !!!!!!!!!!!

Model 59 in the bridge (wish they had a white one) and a SHR-1b in the Neck

I got it working !!! Thank you so much for your help. I used a continuity tester and the ground was just not soldered ok, fixed it up and I gotta say I LOVE what the two
Duncans have done to my strat...........I love playing it now as it now sounds different then the MIA one that is SSS. Best money I ever spent. Wish they had it in white through.....

Oh well, it works and I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Special Thanks to Parameterman for telling me to switch the two wires......its perfect!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I have some fret buzz on just the 4/5/6 string and only below the 12th fret.

I had put two extra springs in, so I loosened the screws a little. The bridge is
laying flat as all heck on the strat body. I went to number 10 strings and the
nut seems to want smaller strings, as they are riding high..... not in any grooves.

I still cant get over the change in sound.......but I look forward to getting rid of
the buzz.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I messed with the truss rod and gave it three small turns counter clockwise to add some relief, and it did the trick..no more fret buzz !!!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

That's a damn fine lookin guitar!!

After looking at your pics of your gear.......WOW !!! How can you
ever make up your mind what you want to play????

I liked the way you used the grass to take pics for the background.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I love the Megaswitch E but it works best IMO with two humbuckers. You have a single in middle, so you might want to stick with what you have.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I put some turns counter clockwise on the truss rod (added some relief) and now all the buzz is gone and it just sounds really nice !!!

Thanks Everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

Glad to hear everything panned out for you.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I screwed up and did not read the fine print at the top, as I hooked up my two SD Pups the way the picture showed, but because I have a fender tex mex in the middle, I was suppose to switch the black and green wires and I didnt.

I dont notice the bridge 59 sounding bad, but the hotrail in the neck is weak and soft.

I did get some really great advice on how to set this up the way I wanted to where my middle position on my 5 way is for the bridge and neck to be on at the same time.

I ordered a SD Liberator and a push/pull 500K pot for one of the tones. My question is ...........Can this be made to set it up sort of like an S1 system.....
where my 5 positions are one way, and then if I pull the tone up, now all 5 positions will be different......or did I buy a Push pull for the wrong reason, and what are my possibilities , as I did buy one and im not sure how to set things up just yet. The hot rail is the only one with 4 wires that could be
split.

Thank you very much for any help or pictures you can send my way, I appreciate the help very much.

So I did do the swap of middle and bridge and I thought I WAS getting the bridge AND the neck...LOL darn....all this time too !!! Im such a newb.

I ordered a blender pot, so now I guess I need to order a mega switch too!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

So now I ordered the mega switch. I will now have the following items coming soon in the mail or I already have them in my possession. 1. Mega Switch 2. Dimarzio push/pull 500k pot (audio taper DPDT for splitting the neck SD hotrail 4 wire pup) ( now because of mega sw..I may not have needed????) 3. SD Liberator volume 500K pot NON SOLDERing 4. Blender pot 500K so that neck and bridge hums can be blended. 5. I bought two .022pf radio shack Polyester-Film Capacitors that are 50WDC max....I did not mean to buy pico farad, I wanted UF..guess I will have to return those. Now this is going to be something for me to figure out how everything gets wired.....GULP !!!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I've been really out of it mentally but I'll chew on this a bit and see what I can figure out. You might not be able to have the blender work only in the middle, I'll have to see.

The model E can do automatic splitting but you don't have to use it. If we get the blend-in-the-middle working, it'll be at the expense of the auto-splitting. Which be fine in this case if you're manually splitting the hotrails with a push/pull.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I have the blender part down pat. I already soldered the wires on for it. So I will be running the two humbuckers to the blender, and then to the Volume, and then to the tone. I do not really care much about the middle tex mex, but when I split the neck, I will have it join with the middle so that it can cancel humm and be like another humbucker with a different tone. The push pull tone 500K I understand as far as down will be b to C and up will be B to a....the part im not sure of is the neck 4 wire...where the red and white are joined together now....does the white end up being hot and the red ground when I want to do the coil tap ?????? Then on the Mega E I would bring the white to the number 5 on the mega E switch and the black from the neck 4 wire to the number 2 on the Mega Sw.
I bought Tim Swikes book and wrote to him and he would not help me, and I took the guitar to guitar center and the luthier there wanted to send it out. WAY too much money!

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

Feb 26th I put the pups in wrong, then bought the model E mega switch and a blender and a push pull......I think I have about 5 different people saying they were going to draw something up and they never did. I paid a company to do it for me, and they screwed it up beyond belief, so now I have to hope they fix it to my satisfaction. My model 59 only has one hot wire in a braided ground......they drew it as a 4 wire and split the coils..which cant be done. They drew the blender as a 3 tap, and not a 6 tap and they had no jumper wires at all...so it would not have worked. The push pull, they did not have any wires attached to the upper tabs at all, so when the knob is pulled out, I dont see how anything can happen. 9 weeks almost Ive waited for help.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

I wired it up as they said to and the blender is all screwed up and 3 of the 5 mega sw positions have no sound, unless you turn the blender from 5 to 0 or 10. I think it needs a jumper in a X formation, just like the ground did.

Re: 9:45 Pm and very anxious about new pups

When I wired the blender up above in the pic and put my ohm meter on it.....it worked perfectly...........and I paid money to have a PRO do my diagram...Electronic Engineer.

I kept telling him the blender needs a jumper........
