90's Gibson BB King Lucille?

Re: 90's Gibson BB King Lucille?

Outstanding guitar, from an outstanding time period for Gibson. It's Gibson's best semi hollow design ever, IMO. All I'd do to one would be to go to a regular tail piece, and to a regular (i.e. plastic) truss rod cover.

That said, I don't know if it's a fair trade for your 6120. Your guitar looks super clean, and the Lucille looks pretty scratched up in that one closeup shot. Do your fair share of research on completed E-Bay auctions before saying yes.

Sweet! Glad to hear that its probably a good guitar. Yeah, I've been talking to the guy through messages and on the phone for the last couple hours. He actually bought it brand new in the 90's (btw its a '93 model), and he used to run a guitar shop and was a Gibson dealer for 10 years. He said the pics make it look a lot worse than it actually is. He said it has some surface scratches from it being played since '93, it has one or two very small dings on the back of the neck, and some of the gold hardware had tarnished with age. And he actually did replace the TP-6 with a regular stop bar.

My Gretsch is pretty clean but it does have some surface scratches and there is some tarnish on the front of the Bigsby. I've been looking on ebay and the lowest I have seen a 90's model Lucille go for is between $1,600-1,700. I'm not actually sure what the exact value is on my Gretsch, since I haven't been able to find many of them like mine with the block inlays. I would share that I think it is a fair deal though. Neither of us have fully committed to trading yet, we both want to check out each others guitars first to make sure we both like them before we make any deals.
