9v vs. 18v power supply for OCD...

Hmmm... finally picked-up an 18 volt power supply for the OCD today. Been running it on 9v since I bought it last July 4th.

Definitely hear a little difference how I run the OCD (gain = 9:00, vol = 3:00, tone = 11:00, and switch on Hi setting). Running on 9v seems to give a bit more sag into my XTC. Whereas using 18v seems to be slightly more in-your-face and up front. The opposite of 9v. So I'm happy that there seems to be a difference. I'm just not sure yet which one I like better.

Your thoughts on the differences?

I have never tried a higher voltage. Is there any reason 12V wouldn't work? It might be the perfect headroom/punch compromise.

Is it safe to run it at 18v? There are some pedals out there that parts will get burned up if doing so.

i like it better with 18v, but it still sounds pretty good just using a battery. There is just a but more clarity and punch. I run the fulldrive on 18v too, but i cant hear a huge difference with that one.

I haven't tried it with a battery. I usually go straight to the power supply when I buy a pedal cause I'm cheap and don't like spending money on batteries... LOL.

I dunno. I know that it works with 9 and 18v, but never heard of running it on 12v before. You'd think that it would work that way -- being in between.
