I wouldn't call the Fender Gilmour Sig over priced at all. Custom Shop, relice'd, beautiful case, nitro finish etc etc for $4000 isn't all that bad considering how much other signature models cost. Nice build by the way.
I'm thinking of putting the EMG DG set in this....

Maybe the relic'd version. But the NOS is still $3800+

Here's the one I did BTW (pic pre-tuner upgrade). Sold it for £165, which is what I put into it pretty much. SSL-6 in the bridge, Wilkinson stamped saddles, Wilkinson vintage Kluson style tuners, new pots and an orange drop.

Yeah it did look really nice, and sounded okay too. But it didn't play as nicely as my other Squier strats and I don't really dig single coils in the bridge, even one as hot as the SSL-6. So I sold it and bought an Epi Les Paul. ;)

What are you talking about? Fender really does selects premium woods for their custom shop guitars, which factors in the cost. Anyways, to the OP, awesome job on the strat!

Nice axe Mikey. I love the case and that neck is top of the line. Very similar build to mine, except I used a Warmoth neck.

How long before it is on ebay?

the thing about custom shops is that you're not just buying a guitar, you're buying a collector's item. If you wanted to sell this guitar in a few years, it doesn't matter that it may be the exact same thing as a David Gilmour strat, the Gilmour will sell for waaay more because it is a collectors item. Now, I would personally never buy a guitar for a collectors item. I believe that a guitar should be played and if you're playing a guitar that you're afraid to destroy or accidentally dent, you shouldn't be playing it. That said, that's why they're so much more.
