PS. GitarPedal.net is a Turkish guitar forum that I hang out in, apart from here of course...

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

I like hearing demos with real guitar players like this one. I can actually get a jist of the pedal. So many youtube clips have beginners at the wheel and I wish they'd just F off and go away and stop insulting the creators of the pedals they're demoing. Some of them do a big disservice to the companies. I wish companies could have some demos removed, just so a crappy ass player can't tarnish their image! LOL

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

I enjoyed the demo Doc! Many thanks!

In all honesty, they all sounded pretty much the same to me.

One would sound pretty cool, you'd switch to a different one which wouldn't sound quite the same, and then you'd turn a knob and then it'd sound like the other one, then you'd switch to a different one which wouldn't sound quite the same, and then you'd turn a knob and then it'd sound like the other one, then you'd switch to a different one which wouldn't sound quite the same, and then you'd turn a knob and then it'd sound like the other one, then you'd switch to a different one which wouldn't sound quite the same, and then you'd turn a knob and then it'd sound like the other one...well, you get my drift!

Vow.

:)

It is GREAT to read you Lew. :cool2:

They kinda sound quite close to me too... In fact, the idea was to show that this Sparkle mod is actually not that different from the other two that I happen to own. The volume push is a bit different, the eq is a bit different, the compression is a bit different... But still similar... I am still gonna keep both the eternity and phantom, but stil... This sparkle mod pedal is quite cool...

Yes. Similar as they are, the Sparkle Mod seemed to be the one that stood out a little. Nice to "read" you again too, Doc!

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

I liked the Sparkle drive the best myself, but all three sounded pretty good to me. Thanks for putting that demo together.

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

Doc, have you tried an Analogman King of Tone? I've had one for a few weeks now and I just keep finding more and more to like about it.

I still like my Vintage Rat and my TS808 but the KoT can get my favorite tones from those pedals, while sounding more open and natural.

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

Please lemme know of what you think, whenever you have time. Would appreciate it.

Finally got round to checking this out. Stellar demo as always, Dr B!

Was really quite impressed w the Sparkle Drive, but the first OD took the prize, in my opinion. I have never been a fan of Lovepedal. The Sparkle Drive has the most LF umph, but the first OD (which one is that??) is just so open and sounds like it would really compliment a cranked Strat!

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

That's a MJM Phantom. Cool TS, I'd say.

Thanks for the feedback and kind words.

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

Hi Lew,

No, I have not tried/used KOT long enough to form a solid opinion... 3 or 4 years ago I kinda tried to get into his list, but then gave up... People had to wait like 15 months or more in that list. And naturally the second hand prices were quite high.

I trust your judgement... And now am wondering how much they for you know...

:)

FYI, here is quite a tastey demo of that pedal:

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

Frank Lee enjoys your demo. Special kudos for having Jesus operate the foot switches for you.

He wonders if it would be fun to compare these to some form of the regular Tubescreamer, either normal, reissue, modded, or etc.

Thank you.

Re: A Battle of Tubescreamers...

Thanks...

:)

MJM is advertised as being a spot on clone of them old TS808's, when the switch is to the left (around the beginning of the vid). So them other TS808's, of course, maybe a bit different, but they should sound not that far off you know.

Hope this helps.
