Just putting the clear coats on.

This one is Maple back (with Morado and wenge stripe), and Morado cap and fretboard (obviously, it will be filled with soapbar P-90s).

This one is mahogany back with purple heart cap and fretboard (with yellow heart and wenge accents).

All of my builds are heavily chambered, cap and back.

The chambering gives them a really great tone, but most importantly (at least to my aging, aching back), most of them weigh right at 6.0 pounds. The heaviest is right at 6 lb 3 oz. That beats my 11-12 lb Les Paul all to heck. Although I also really love the tone of that one too.

Wow! That's truly inspiration. You've just raised the bar. ;)

Re: A COUPLE BUILDS I'M WORKING ON

They look amazingly awesome! Those look like they have great upper fret access. The fret boards on both are very stunning...great stuff and I can't wait to see the finished products.:)

Thanks for the comments guys. Well, I'm still reaching for the bar. I'm totally not close to Peter Crossley standards yet.

The fretboards have easy access to the last fret (23 on the purpleheart guitar).

Doc; What kind of glue are you using to glue the two body halves together?

Titebond. I use it for all the wood-to-wood joints, including fretboard to neck. I use StewMac binding cement for the binding-to-body joint and pure acetone to "glue" the thin accent binding strips to the main binding strip.

Really interesting designs and lovely wood!
I also really like a mostly hollow chambered guitar.

Looking great 'doc........some real works of art there. Love the little trim items that make them stand out!!

Silicone actually. Backed up across several devices. I'm old, but it is the 21st century. :D

I'm going to apply for disability benefits for being so technologically challenged.

Re: A COUPLE BUILDS I'M WORKING ON

Thanks Peter. I too love Purple Heart. Also that Morado wood can have some amazing grain patterns. And for extreme variety available from one type of wood, Canary Wood can't be beat. It can go from a plain light yellow with essentially no visible grain, to extremely heavily patterned and totally gorgeous.

Re: A COUPLE BUILDS I'M WORKING ON

Okay. Now I see why you got all narky a month ago about "mods" and "builds" and I apologise for my guitar tomfoolery attempting to equate itself with your actual hard work.

This is all great stuff.
