A demo showing that a Strat bridge can sound good stock. ;)

This is for all you strat haters. :D My friends sunburst strat, just a standard MIM but he replaced the pickups with Texas Specials (he's a big SRV fan, and I know they are slightly overwound but it is still SSS stock, so a similar sound). This is stock wiring... he has size 8 strings on it too. :earl: Mine has 11s on it now hehe.

Mind the **** playing, I think it sounds great.

First I go through neck, neck-middle, middle, middle-bridge, and finally bridge. I did this to show I can make a stock bridge fat without making the other pickups muddy. Then bridge clean and neck clean... to show even rolling off they aren't muddy. This is through the Mesa Boogie Mk II. 60 watt 1x12.

PS: Sorry about the quiet-ness of the clip, I learned how to use the buffer on my $35 recorder hehe but I think I set it too high.

You've got some nice tones there, and you're getting to be a decent player. Good job.

Hey, if more Strat players could get full, warm tones like that, I'd have no beef with them at all. You need to show more people how to do it. It's those schreechy, nails-on-a-chalkboard guys that get to me. If I had a Strat, I'd put Texas Special's in it. That's nice.

I just noticed you said it has 8's on it. Good lord! Does not sound thin or wimpy at all. Kind of a change in feel for you compared to your 11's.

Yeah, I was surprised when I first took it out of the case. Those are some thin strings! I didn't really have a problem with them on this guitar though, felt fine. I think I would go up to 9s though. I don't like the 11s right now, a little too bulky, I can play them but my fingers get tired after 20-30 mins. I think I am going back to 10s.
