A Dogear Staple P/U For Bridge in LP...

I assume you’re talking about the custom shop “staple” pickup-it’s just Duncan’s take on the old Gibson “alnico V” which was Gibson’s premium pickup briefly from about ‘54 until the introduction of the humbucker. It was used in bridge, middle, and neck on a number of Gibson models. Many of us associate it as a neck pickup because it was the neck position on the first Les Paul customs, paired with a p90 in the bridge. I don’t think Duncan calibrates a specific neck or bridge model even.
so in that regard, I think yes you could easily use it in the bridge.
however, those “staples” are actually adjustable magnets-and they look long, so I think it goes deeper than a p90.

As odd as this might sound, it's more for aesthetics than a particular sound~ Yeah, sure, I still want all that balls to the wall P90 glory, but it's pretty much just for cosmetics purposes on my single p/u LP. And as long there's no special use or jazz-like voicing to them, & they will rock just like other P90's in it's weight-class,,,

i had a set of duncan staples and they dont sound the same as a p90 but they were fantastic. the bridge pup was fat and had a great snarl on the top end, not all that scooped due to the wind. kinda like a tele pup thats been on roids and hitting the gym really hard.

You might get similar sonic results (but probably not exact) from a TV Jones T-Armond pickup. They are available in the "English Mount" and can be paired with the EM3 mounting ring to fit dogear applications. Might be worth a look:

Yeah, I don't think you'd dig the fat, sort of wooly sound these pickups have. If you really like the look, though, you can get another wind made in the same enclosure through the Custom Shop.
