i had a chance to go to the guitar shop today.

so first thing i did was play a Gibson Les Paul Custom. Boy, it felt damn nice, man. it wasn't heavy, just right. the neck was awesome too. very slick. it felt nice in my hands, right size. and the fretwork was awesome.

i plugged that baby into a avt series marshall. too boomy, overpowering low end. just mud.

next, i plugged it into a marshall jcm200 tsl. wow, i liked the cleans on this one. very thick, but strong highs as well.

i plugged that one into a hot rod deville212, next. cleans were amazing as usual. the les paul sounded very clean on that one. comparing tsl to deville, i have to say i prefer the clean tones of the deville better. i hooked up a metal zone to the hot rod deville. the distortion was very IN YOUR FACE and aggressive all the while sounding very 'professional'(for lack of a better term)

but i have to say i didn't like the tone of the gibby les paul custom too much. it wasn't as complex sounding as i thought it would be. i guess i'm more of a strat person. i just happen to really love my strat cleans. that doesn't mean the les paul was bad, but i think it wasn't my cup of tea.

even tho i prefer strats more, one major thing i loved about the les paul was the chunk went palm-muting. just amazing chugga chugga :)

next, with a swing strat copy(i think that's a korean made guitar). i noticed that on the trem, it said wilkinson. :saeek: the trem was very smooth and nice for palm muting. i mean the saddles felt very smooth so they didn't cut your hands when you tried to palm mute

i plugged that one into a fender 65 princeton. very nice cleans(as most fender amps do) quite complex sounding(which i look for in an amp). and with the metal zone, i got some very thick aggressive distortion. not only that, i also managed dial in settings on the mt-2, so they sounded punk-ish.

i wanted to try a dsl401, but i couldn't find it... :yell: next time i'll have to look for it

thanks for reading,
benji

Nice review benji; always fun to read members "takes" on equipment. :)
