hi everyone, ive been reading around on different forums and this one seems to be the right place to ask a few questions!!! i searched around for a bit but couldnt find anything about what i needed to know..so...off we go

1) can PuP covers be added to any pickup ?

2) can the PuP covers be painted to match the guitar ? ( white in my case )

well i think thats pretty much it...for now :) hehe, thanks in advance for the help

Re: a few PuP questions

welcome to the forum!!

1) almost any humbucker can have a cover put on it, but there are different pole piece spacings so you need to get the right cover. what type of pup is it?

2) if you can find a plastic cover, it can be painted but im not sure where to fine them. usually metal covers come in nickle, chrome, gold and black

Re: a few PuP questions

As a side note I've taken standard gibson type covers and sanded the chrome off... primered and painted them... not primering is where most people have bad luck when they try it, the paint peels and flakes pretty quick if you dont... so it is possible to colour code the covers to your guitar... I havent heard of anyone making aftermarket plastic covers for pickups...

Re: a few PuP questions

I think RioGrande has a line of odd pickup covers. May be you could find there what you are looking for.

Re: a few PuP questions

hey! thanks for the reply :) i really like the forums here!!! actually there is no PuP type yet...i really like the "emg look" or the "classic cover look" i actually came across some very thin all white plastic covers..but id be a bit worried about them slipping off the PuP and onto the strings would a little glue or something of the sort be okay to keep these on ? im planing on going a duncan classic and a jazz :)

Re: a few PuP questions

I would think using a couple small beads of silicone would be fine to secure a plastic cover... it would hold but still be easily removable...

Make sure you use electronic or electrical grade silicone, it won't corrode your pickups like the regular stuff could.
