A few questions about a Lite Ash Tele

I'm looking at this one, but have a few questions about it:

is the neck a serious problem; do you have to adjust it often, in order to avoid fret buzz?
Is it comfortable to play rhytm as well as lead on this guitar? How's the weight? I've heard it was a litte too heavy...
I like the sound Frusciante gets on Californication (the album in general). Is the Tele the way to go, or should I look at the Strat instead? I've heard the Tele is a kinda country-guitar...

Lotsa questions, but I'll be very grateful if I get some answers

These models are serious hit and miss. I played one at my local GC that was very nice. I went back a week later to maybe buy it and it was gone. However, their were 5 more. None were very good... Evan has one. He has changed the hardware and pickups and is having Seymour route the neck cavity to house a minihumbucker.

Hi Torh. I own a Lite Ash Tele and it's my only electric for now. Very versatile, you can use a tele in most kinds of music. The alnico pro II pickups that the lite ash comes gives the guitar a sweet warm tone and makes the guitar a little less twangy than a normal tele.

Some of the guitars have bad neck quality and some are really good guitars. It would be better if you'd buy from a local shop so you could play first but you can always order online and send it back if it's a "miss".

Otherwise, great guitar for the buck! Great quality if you find a "hit". For me the lite ash definately a keeper. Good luck on the hunt.

Oh! And mine had a little fret buzz with the original .009 set strings. But when I changed to .010's it went away as the strings don't vibrate as much.

I bought one used from Guitar Center and it was a great guitar. Good fret work and handled 11's with low action, minimal relief and no buzz. I returned it for no other reason as I discovered I'm just not a single coil sorta guy. However, since then I've played some lemons.

The Lite ash Strats and Teles are made by Samick under a licence agrement with fender and are very hit or miss...some are real good guitars and some are just plain junk! If you want a good cheep tele look at a Classic 50's or 60's Tele or if you want a more modern Tele grab a MIM Standard of a Highway One if you can swing the cost...the HW1's are amazing!

BUT! IMO, if you want to get the Frusciante vibe in general go for a Strat...he does use a Tele from time to time, as well as a Jagure and a White Falcon! BUT, moist of the classic Frusciante tones are a Strat through Plexi Marshall's and BF Fenders...get a MIM Jimmy Vaughan Strat and either Surfers or SSL-1's and go to town!

I can't wait to get my hands on a "moist Jagure"!! But TGWIF is right, JF's tone is primarily Strat. The MIM Strats and Teles, and 50's & 60's reissues, + Hwy guiitars are a better standard and more consistant. If you get a good Lite Ash, you're laughing, if not, you're f**ked.

The one I played yesterday was sure a miss :smack: Only Tele this store had too. I told the guy I've got a 99.99 SX Tele copy that smokes this guitar.

Thank you very much for answers I'll probably see if I can visit a store to test it before buying, instead of purchasing it on the net. Someone who kows about a store on Manhattan where they might have this guitar to a fairly good price?
