A few questions about noisegate pedals...

Do any of you use noisegate pedals? How necessary are they?

Is the Boss NS-2 good?

-Also, some pedals these days have built in noisegates, like some effects pedals and distortion pedals... is it bad to own too many pedals with built-in noise gates?

All depends on how much noise bothers you

I've got a p90 equiped guitar I play at very high gain and its darn loud (gates only help so much even) but personally don't like getting the chords chomped off when the gate kicks in.

I live with the noise instead as its only an issue when I'm not playing and just turn the volume down between songs
