I got to use a real '69 Strat for this song. No vocals, but I let the guitar talk for this one. And I also borrowed a real Dallas Arbiter fuzz face, but I used my wah and my uni-vibe clone for this.
He'd prefer that I didn't document the strat in question, as it is in really, I mean, really mint condition. It even had the original hang tags in the case. I'll just say this, it has a really full sound, and the neck is quite big, characteristic of those late sixties Strats. It had enough sustain to make you think it'd go on forever. I measured the pickups ohm resistance and the bridge was at 5.8k ohm, the middle at 5.5k and the neck was at 5.9k.No offense, but with your previous record, pics or you didn't play a 69 strat on this. Your constant posting of videos for better or worse would lead one to think that you would have posted the pics all over this.
It was done with a Behringer DI into my PC's sound card...via the line out of my Valvestate. You do not have the benefit of the doubt when it comes to vintage strats. That's your fault, and your fault alone. The thing about lying is that you can only get caught in a lie once and then everyone who remembers the first lie suspects that you'll lie again. It's life. Don't lie.
That aside, here's a fair question - why would anyone want a recording of a '69 strat with a $30 small diaphragm condenser into a PC's soundcard? We wouldn't be able to tell a '69 strat from a bullet squier with a recording setup like that because it's simply not going to capture an accurate representation of the sound. Get an interface and an SM57.

That's unusual, Strats were never known for big sustain in their stock form (which drove an industry in the 1970s, trying to get more sustain and more 'rock' from Strats ... I know, because I was there). Also I didn't know that they had maple caps on the bodies, I thought they were either Alder or Ash all the way through. Thanks to the internet, I learn something new every day.
Oh I see, he's one of those superstitious types who believes taking a photo of it would steal its toaaan.
With the BS aside (and I highly doubt the guy would be so anal...) This is one of the best recordings you've posted...
Considering there likely is no 69 strat (until proven otherwise), it is a step in the right direction. He just needs a lot more of those steps. As far as his playing it is, but the recording itself is still pretty subpar and does not do said 69 strat justice.

I wasn't referencing the bodies, but the neck. It was the big headstock

It sounds like a cheap guitar with lots of fuzz through a transistor radio.
