A good rack delay?

I've been thinking of building a little rack setup and I'd like to have a nice delay in it if possible. I now use a Ibanez AD-9 analog delay pedal. It's quite nice. I like to use delay with short times to thicken up a rhythm tone or a bit longer times to liven up some lead work.

The other parts in the rack would be a Tech21 PSA 1.1, a Marshall JMP-1 and a VHT 2/90/2 or a 2150. Probably with two Tech21 2*12 cabinets with eminence tonkers, in stereo. I don't have them yet, I'm still scouring for ideas, but I'll start building it right after new year. Probably according to the currents of the used market.

Any recommendations or ideas?

Re: A good rack delay?

How much the cost??
And what features, or more emphasis on a good sound?
TC-2290 for the highend sound!
Old Chandler echo for that vintage warm great delay.
Korg SDD1000...good luck finding one for normal money, but it is instant U2 sounds.
Lexicon PCM42...the father of hybrid digital and analouge delays!
Or an old Roland SDE-1000/2000/3000

Thanks for the good list! I'll start looking around for a one of those.

Sorry that I forgot about the price range. I guess I could spend up to 500 euros for a really good delay unit, more if there are other good effects in it too. The emphasis is more on good sound than features, although they won't hurt. I'm after the warm analog sound.

How good a sound do those other TC Electronic products get? The D-two and the G-Force, for example?

Brilliant. Rid absolutely NAILED every notable rack delay ever made. If you want a quality echo/delay, pay attention to this post :fing2:

Back in the mid 90's, I used a Tech21 PSA1 and a Marshall JMP1 preamp as well. Great preamps that worked very well with the delay settings on my Roctron Intellifex. These can be found used for only a couple hundred bucks. Sound great, and don't have any issues with dropouts when switching between programs.

Re: A good rack delay?

You know what I think the best rack delay is? When a chick takes her bra off, and the boobs are soooo big and firm it seems like gravity only moves them in slow motion as that puppy slips off. That's damn good rack delay.

Re: A good rack delay?

i'm a fan of rocktron units so i would suggest an intellifex or an intelliverb if you can find one.

+1

I actually DO have a Korg SDD-2000 for sale...pretty clean one too. $150 shipped inside the USA takes it!

Re: A good rack delay?

I ****ed all of your guyses moms last night, I was driving like a madman across the country like Santa.

Re: A good rack delay?

It was a continuation of the stupid banter, sorry.

The Korg delay is pretty sweet if you can find one. Otherwise, honestly, I don't see a hugggge difference, certainly not a tonal one, between any of these.

Re: A good rack delay?

Hehe ok:)
The 2290 has a distinct tone...it is still the digital delay that set the standart...here 20 years later..kinda funny!
Along with Eventide, Lexicon, Yamaha, etc etc...

Re: A good rack delay?

Thanks again guys, I'll look around for those. There isn't that many around here, though.

Are there any good new units available? What about those newer TC units?
