A good starter guitar?

Ok, so I want to break from being techonly (and very novice at that) and learn to play. I was in a local pawn shop and was just looking around whan I spy a Schecter C-1 Elite. It looked to be in very good condition minor waring and the only major damage was the neck pup ring was broken. I figure that can be fixed plus i know I'd want to make mods eventualy anyway. They price tag was $400 (US) and it came with a hard shell case (just a nice bonus). I was really impressed with the almost nonexistent heel and it sounded quite good unplugged (from what i could tell with my tinkering). I am very serious about learning to play and can borrow any number of friends many amps to learn on. Any input would be very much apreciated. I respect all of your opinions very much and welcome any honest opinion. Thank you very much in advane.

Re: A good starter guitar?

from what i heard those are great guitars and the duncan designed pickups are okay for a first guitar and are better than most stock pickups. Schecter is one of the few good korean guitars out there.

Yep, for the money, Schecter rules. Dean also makes some very nice stuff (like my Chafin Del Sol... amazing guitars).

Maybe a MIM Strat or MIM Tele could be options, but it all depends what you're looking for in a guitar.

i think the schecter are better deals then the deans b/c of the duncans and the tonepros bridge.

Re: A good starter guitar?

that would be an outstanding guitar to learn on ... probably better than most folks learn on and even better than many have even after learning .. good luck

Go for it if you want, it sounds like a great guitar, but you also can't go wrong with the Mexi strat. I really love mine and it plays and feels better to me thhan most Americans.
