Okay,

I'm a Tele and Les Paul type guy.

About the farthest I'll go in terms of "pointy" guitars is a Flying V or Explorer, but I don't quite have the mojo to play either, nor do they fit into my style of music.

I mostly play indie/fuzzy type stuff, with general garage rock mayhem and some post-rock excesses thrown in...

But I played an Ibanez EX370 at a pawn shop yesterday and I am COMPLETELY in LOVE.

Apparently, they were made in korea, and they were so-so in terms of quality, and there's quite a bit of love for 'em elsewhere on the internet.

Anyway, here's a pic...it's not the actual guitar, but the color/pickup config/look is the same.

AND, should I pull the trigger? It's only $150!

cool for a cheapie.. but i'm not that huge of a fan of Ibanez's in general...

You would be paying less than the price of a professional quality FR vibrato system for this entire guitar. Ho, hum. :scratchch

if you're sure about this part then...
I'd say go find a few of the better Ibanez and play those, make sure you don't love them MORE.

If you walk away feeling good about the pawn shop one, go for it.

Just make sure you know exactly what you want.

I'd show them $120 cash, I bet they bite. I've got a friend that owns a pawn shop and they usually pay les than half what they ask for it.

You can't go wrong that price. However, its not a great guitar. I'd hold out for their 400 series or better an old 500 series. The 300 series went for about $350 new, and a common complaint is the low quality licensed Floyd wouldn't stay in tune.

Great idea. I bought an Epiphone Valve Special from them during Christmas and I should've done the same!

Hmmmm....the information you have provided is valuable. The previous owner blocked the FR Licensed Trem, so I actually had no way of trying that out. Good point!

San Antonio is a real metal town, so I'm pretty sure if I cruise the pawn shops and used guitar stores I'll find something in the 400 or 500 series. Are they pretty much the same trem/control/pickup options or would you recommend a particular type of 400/500?

500 series are sweet but you'd be hard pressed to get one for that kind of price.

Seriously, though. I just picked up a lightly abused 1986 Ibanez RG410 with a non-original pickup for the equivalent of $250, including a robust gigbag.

They come up, that's how you got the Ibby. You don't want to emigrate, I spent some time in Derbyshire in the UK and I often miss it.

It's basically a Korean RG370. Not a bad deal at all... I'd probably snap it up. But yeah for double the price, you could get a killer used RG5XX. Your call, man! I think you'll be happy either way.

"North of Watford" is a parody on the supposed attitude of many Londoners to the rest of Britain. If a place does not appear on the London Underground (subway train) map, it is not worth speaking about.

I should have figured as much, sorry. The funny thing is there are different parodies depending on what part of the UK you live in. Only having a lay over at Heathrow for a couple of hours, I couldn't have known.

Texas is king for stupid Craigslist deals as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not so much with the pedals, but amps and oldish/cheap guitars are in excess.

It's more my style, and it looks pretty clean as far as I can tell.

I'm sorta loving all this Ibanez love on the SD forums!
