Re: A hot rodded humbucker set on my Strat?
i'm gonna go against the grain here (other than Benjy 26 might be right about the string spread on a 2 pt fender trem). I measured center to center of the 2 E-string poles of a TB (Trembucker) spaced (same thing as F or Fender spaced) and an SH (gibson or non-trem) pickups (both duncans). TB's are 52mm spread and the SH's are 48mm. So off of the Warmoth site, 6-hole vintage trems are 56.36mm spread, floyd rose's (original and Schaller) are 53 mm spread, and wilkinson trems are 54mm. So i would say you're right about going for the TB-4(JB) spacing. I have all of the above trems except the 2pt and when i hold a SH spaced pup up to the bridge pups of all these different trem guitars----the SH spread don't match up to the strings (the 2 E strings are pretty much not above poles). Now on another note, i used to talk to a luthier alot, and he always said the bridge position should be a TB, but the neck position---the strings are closer together out there, so its not as critical. I checked into the Hot-rodded HB set b4 too, and ya, its only available in the SH spacing. And i should say too, i have SH and TB spaced hummers for the neck---the TB spacing does sit under the strings better than an SH. (Hope i didn't sound like Mr. Know-It-All on 13 hits of liquid arrogance, sorry if i do)
