a little bit stuck

im a little bit stuck regarding guitar playing. i found out that most of my practice time was dedicated to play solos, and maybe i dont care much for that anymore.

ive learned enough music theory to know most of the chord voicings one would play (at least in the non jazz world), so chord practice has kind of lost meaning too.

im kind of looking to improve but i dont know where to start.

maybe learning a new cover every day? i could certainly use some rhythm / right hand excercises if you have some good ones.

thanks!!!

Sounds like you're looking for new inspiration. I would recommend going to see a bunch of live shows. That usually does the trick for me when I'm feeling dried up.

Learn a song all the way through. Maybe not you, but most guitarists learn the parts they like and miss the benefit of learning material, or even parts of a song that don't interest them. Sometimes it is just a quick chord change that forces you to learn a new inversion.

It is amazing how much I learned in a riff-off about finding short-cuts ... easier ways to do things that were too difficult to play as I had first believed they had to be played.

I definitely second the idea of learning covers. I think that although you can practice techniques on your own, the best way to bring them to fruition is to play songs that have those techniques.

And you may find if you learn new songs all the time you will discover new licks or ideas that you hadn't thought of before. It may not be your own material but that doesn't make it any less fun or enjoyable, at least for me.
