A locking nut problem

Hello!

I have Schaller's Floyd Rose tremolo system on my guitar. But one screw on the locking nut is kinda loose, it doesn't tighten as the other two. It tightens a bit but then just spins around if I keep turning it. I've probably turned it too hard too many times.

Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? A new hole and a bigger screw maybe? I'm afraid I'll destroy my locking nut and my guitar. Please help.

Re: A locking nut problem

It's probably striped. Just go and get a new screw for it. Or it could be the base plate thing thats striped.

Re: A locking nut problem

Have you tried swapping it with another screw to see if it's the screw or the hole that's the problem? Be gentle; make sure you don't tear up another screw or hole in the process.

Re: A locking nut problem

Time to buy a new one. There's no need to over-tighten Floyd nuts. Barely snug is all they need......not crushing the string flat.

OK, I'll be more helpful. You can't fix the Schaller nut...it's ruined.

Go on Ebay and search for a Schaller Floyd nut. Just swap it out via the two allen bolts. If there's any little metal spacers between the neck and nut, make sure you take note of them while pulling the stripped nut off, then put them back in place when putting the new one on.
