A mod that doesn't work!

Hi all,

I got my stack plus pickups and a 5 way american switch with 4 plus 4 terminals.

I used the SD schematics with the bridge being splitted automatically on position 4.

I want to do the mod that will enable me not only to use this auto split but also being able to use the bridge pickup with the neck pickup without the middle.

When I try to wire it according to instructions I found on the net what happens is that the sound is muted when I pull the push pull, while i'm on the neck position...

I tried another way by using the schematics which is specified for this purpose by giving up the auto split with the bridge, and it still doesn't work!

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Re: A mod that doesn't work!

There are mods where you can turn on one of the pickups with a push/pull. I have seen Bridge on and neck on ones. If you used the bridge on mod you would get these combos with the push pull up:

pos 1: N (+B) This is the one you want
Pos 2: N&M (+B)
Pos 3: M (+B)
Pos 4: MB (+B- same as 3)
Pos 5: B

I did this one with a Hot rails/Cool rails setup and it worked out for me. Since rails are mini HB's it would be a little different than your setup but the concept is the same.

Re: A mod that doesn't work!

That doesn't really answer my question...
I assumed that if there's a bridge auto split, then the mod cannot work... but I tried to cancel the bridge auto split, and wire the mod as instructed, and I still don't get the result I'm after, one position stops working when the push pull is up...
Is it possible that something's wrong with the push pull?

Re: A mod that doesn't work!

Hi!

Thanks, I already sorted it out... it has been my fault. I wired the bottom leg of the push pull to ground instead of the volume hot connection making it short the circuit instead of activating the bridge pickup as I wanted... now it's all well...

I've watched the schematics, it won't work for me because I don't have a reversed polarity pickup to enjoy hum cancelling in position 2, so I used a regular 5 way switch...

Thanks again!
