a p90 with the size of a strat pickup?

Hi,
I've started looking for a replacement pickup for my strat style Ibanez Blazer... It's a swamp ash body with a maple neck... I want a single coil that would have fat and smooth tone when overdriven...
was thinking about something with p90 vibe... with a nice "vocal" awwww... if I've defined it right...

Any ideas?

The Fralin Steel Poled (43) Strat pickups are supposed to have a P-90ish sound to them.

Harmonic Design has something that's supposed to do that very thing

Ditto on the Fralin Steel Pole and Duncan Quarter Pounder...I don't have any experience with Harmonic Design's products.

The Fralin is okay. It was a little gritty and grainy for me, and still had that bright strat bridge sound. They're not P-90's. I like the Quarter Pound too, but if you're saying you want a vocal "aww" sound, then it's hard for me to imagine that from a slanted strat bridge single coil. The only thing I can think of is something that artificially tames down the highs, like an extremely overwound A2 single, or a Hot Strat Stack or something. But maybe I'm understanding you incorrectly.

Thats pretty much what I was going for with the Strat in my sig: SSL-3 in the bridge with SSL-6's in the neck and middle. Very smooth and fat, but still has just enough of "Strat" character.

I'm not sure about the P-90 part because I've never heard one.

a lot of the p90's sound comes from its short, squat coils dude - you'll pick up things like the vowel tone, but not that authentic fat warm sound in a SC size pickup!

another alternative : jazzmaster coils? still fendery, still p90 ish

Quarter Pounder will give you something like a hot, very overwound P90 sound.
