Greetings,,, a quick question here,,,,, If I PayPal some dough & send it as 'friends & family-, to avoid those pesky fees), am I still protected under PP's protection against any possible malfeasance? thnx

I wouldn't worry about "violating their terms of service", but you would definitely be giving up any buyer protection.

yes Masta,, it's the latter I'm concerned with!!
thanks all.... This guy is refusing to sell me a $1600 amp solely because I insist on using PP's 'goods & services' option.... Is this not a BIG RED LIGHT, and I should finally move on?

Last year, I tried buying the same amp from the same guy, then listed on Reverb (still listed), but when we butted heads over me pointing out that the posted pictures were from the person's auction that HE bought the amp from. He quickly got real nasty, refusing to even engage me any further & advising me on some other amp out there that my suit my needs... He doesn't know my needs... Again, SERIOUS Red Flag, my gut tells me...
Thnx:banghead:

PP charges the seller a fee if you use their regular service. Offer him a few extra bucks to cover the fee, and I suspect he will stop being concerned about the family and friends thing.

Not necessarily.

PayPal now informs the IRS of your sales if you make over $600 in a year with them. Same for reverb. For a lot of folks it’s a pain to have to find the receipt of when you bought whatever you’re selling (if you have it) and then discount it as you do your taxes etc.
