A Pedal every guitar player should have

There are many pedals out there that are good for many applications. But I would say that every guitar player can benefit from a looping pedal. Great for practicing scales or practicing in general just a good all around pedal period. Of course there are different brands and different functions. I believe its a must pedal for those who enjoy any type of music.

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

i supposed as a practice tool but ive been playing for 25 years and have never owned a looper and dont feel lacking for not having one

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

I thought he was gonna say a chorus or some booster

Tuner would probably be my vote

My delay has a loop function

Maybe a delay then

Reverb yeah reverb

Phaser alway need a phaser
If ya want Eddies tone youse gotsta have a phaser

If you're just playing at home you can survive tuning to yourself or with some tuning app.

drum machine

doesn't drink all your beer
doesn't trip over your pedals
doesn't hit on your significant other

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

I've always wanted one. Would be cool for doing solo stuff. But... Then again, you can record backing tracks in advance quite easily and haul around a small/simple laptop rig for that purpose (and also play your guitar through it.)

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

Loopers definitely are cool and good for practice, but not a necessity by a long shot. I have no use for one. If I ever want to jam over myself I just fire up the DAW and off we go...

Yup, we live in an age where there IS no must-own pedal. 95% of all guitar players would better off investing in an iPad mini, a USB keyboard controller, and a few select apps than any pedals (or amplifiers for that matter).

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

A looper is certainly a necessity for me. I can tune by ear if I have to. Looping is an amazing compositional tool, and there is no better device for learning improvisation these days, short of having an on-demand rhythm players.

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

To become a very good guitarist practising with a looper is essential. It makes you think about timing. It will improve all of your guitar skills. The problem that comes into place some people don't know how to use it. I like the T.C Electronics Ditto its user friendly.

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

I see your point but playing over your poorly timed rhythm isn't going to improve your timing

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

I thought exactly same when I bought my first and last looper. It's good practicing tool if you play very clean. Otherwise it sounds (like I heard someone to put it) "like two players playing a same guitar". Complete mush. It's buffer also ruined my tone (boss pedal). I sold it within two weeks and continued to use Audacity for my own backing tracks if I wanted them.

It may be great tool if you can direct the loop into second amp, or use fx loop. Otherwise it's very limited.

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

If I could only keep one of my current pedals it would be the OD9pro+.
Between the mid-boost toggle and the 9v/18v option I can get the boost I want from any of my guitar/pickups/amp combinations.
Also having the 9-series easy-access door makes changing the battery a 10 second job.
I do use wall-power in my music room but when I need a boost to-go or even just to use downstairs that's always the one I grab.

Re: A Pedal every guitar player should have

I like my Ditto X2 a lot. When I need to work on two guitar parts it's easier for me than the DAW.
