I've compared my 78 to the Custom Custom many times as I have a Strat with each as the bridge pickup. The 78 is slightly lower in volume/output and has more texture...more tooth...like the teeth on a comb sort of. The CC is thicker and smoother and more syrupy. Both allow me to shape the note with my pick and squeeze it out. I like the CC when I want a hotter pickup and just want to wail and I like the 78 for pretty much the same thing but maybe with a little more open and textured tone. Lew

What about the Seth or the PG? Maybe you haven't had them in the same guitar, but I'd still like to hear your impressions compared to those pickups too.

I do use the PGn in a Strat but as a neck pickup...I use the Duncan Custom as the bridge pickup. And most of my experience with the Seth Lover (which I love!) is in a chambered body Hamer Monoco Super Pro...not a Strat. Lew

i can tell you about seth lovers and the pearly gates ...the seth is a totally classic tone is warm and kind of jangly? i guess its overdriven tone is pretty bluesy with a little bit of a bite to it and seems lessy boomy then a 59. in a strat type guitar it has more bite still sweet...you can shape the tone pretty good...it sounds very good on a twin reverb and pretty awesome on a classic marshall. its very custom shopish. I liked the pearly gates on my freinds strat it gets really fuzzy really easy the gain of the amp saturates the pickup more so than any other pickup ive tried. harmonics galore on it though they are really loud and poppy...its pretty cool but definately not smooth...I can see more of a shredder liking this pickup. The seth is very toneful and soulful
