A question from a beginner :)

When i say beginner,i mean i'm new to customizing guitars, not to playing them. :D
I'm looking to upgrade my pups to some Duncans, and i was wondering if they are compatible with my guitar.
I'm sorry if this question sounds stupid :)

I have a Jackson JS30DK,and i'm going for a JB Model in the bridge and a 59 Model in the neck position.

Thank you !

The two most popular humbuckers on the planet, used in all kinds of Jacksons and similar superstrats like yours?

Why wouldn't they be compatible? Wire 'em up and see if ya like 'em.

Re: A question from a beginner :)

It's a good set in a superstrat....one of the most popular.

Other bridges to consider for that guitar and style is the Custom or C5. They'll have bigger bass, neutral mids, and clear highs. The JB has a softer bottom end, distinct high mid push, and smoother highs.

Re: A question from a beginner :)

Shouldn't be a problem. I had an opportunity to play on some Antiquities. If you like that older Strat Style sound, I'd look into them. They are SWEET!

Re: A question from a beginner :)

Make a drawing of the stock wiring before you desolder anything.

If the stock pickups feature four conductor + shield cabling, you may need to translate between Jackson and Duncan colour schemes. Chances are that the colours are the same but that the order is different.

The task of replacing the pickups presents an opportunity to revise and/or upgrade the controls at the same time. e.g. A three-way lever type pickup selector switch could be changed to a five-way Superswitch, enabling additional sounds to be obtained without altering the appearance of the instrument.

I knew this question was silly,I even posted it in the wrong thread.:)

I do like that sound.I want something agressive for some old Gary Moore,Dokken,VH stuff and something with a more vintage sound for some bluesy-rock type stuff.

Duly noted.

Thank you for your answers, and sorry for this huge post.

Re: A question from a beginner :)

I just noticed that the JB has four conductors, but the 59 has only one.
How do you do the wiring part if it only has one ?
I bet you've answered this one before :)

That's sort of what I'm going for.I need something with higher output for 80's stuff(e.g. Lynch,Gary Moore,EVH,Autograph that kind of stuff)
and something to use for blues-rock and some clean stuff.

Re: A question from a beginner :)

4 conductor means the wires for the series connection (end of first coil, start of second) are accessible in the control cavity. The 59 will have these wires joined inside the pickup. If the guitar has only full humbucker option (no coil splits or parallel wiring etc) then you don't need to have the 4-conductor.
