A question on Ibanez SA260FM and the 2 post pivot bridge

I am looking for another HSS guitar with no pickupguard


1) To owners of Ibanez SA260FM, is it a good guitar, or it could be better ?

I read reviews and heared it on youtube, and it sounded a bit thin and bright to me. havent had the chance to play it at a guitar shop.

Opinions on this guitar ?



2) When you screw down the SA260FM bridge, flush it against the body, Obviously, you cant pull up on the Vibrato bar. But can you still push down on the vibrato bar even if the 2 Post are screwed down tightly on the bridge ?

how about doing this on American Deluxe Strat ? (also has 2 post pivot bridge)

Nice looking guitar. Pick one up at the store, see if it feels good to you. Don't worry about the sound, you can always change the pickups. It's got a Mahogany body with maple cap, so a Duncan Custom would sound awesome in it and thicken it right up.

I am thinking about its bridge, they are just 2 post pivots,

not the usually 6 screw vintage bridge.



Max string vibration transfer from 2 post pivot bridge ?

Does the 2 post pivot bridge thins out the tone of the guitar when its not flush and screw tightly against the body ?

Well you'll never get one to sound like an LP, that's for sure.
They're well put together and I would call the sound that thing, it's actually quite warm sounding.
Pickups are not very good, hence I've swapped all of mine out, I've also moded the trem with a heavier block that improves the liveliness of the thing a bit.
In terms of screwing the trem down as long as the plate of the trem is making firm contact with the body you should get sustain/tone improvements and still be able to pull down.
Looking at it, if you did raise all the saddles and screwed down the pivot posts so the trem plate is completely flush and firm on the body I suspect trem operation would be difficult if not impossible; can't say how it would affect tone mind.
These are good guitars for the dosh, but don't expect miracles, at the end of the day they're cheap Korean guitars.
Also, although it has a maple cap it really is little more than a veneer.
