Re: A question...

An answer...

If the quality is as good as they say it is, and it ticks the right boxes for you, then yes! :)

Re: A question...

It ticks all the right boxes alright and I have three of theirs already to tell me how good the quality is - but do I really need any more?

Re: A question...

FB above it looks more tempting, and more moderately priced, to this guitar addict. However, you sir do not need my convincing, as I read, you are already lost to the G.A.S. of it all anyways. :eek5: :headbang:

Re: A question...

One and a half monkeys Sterling should land you a slightly used Fender American Standard or a well-gigged AVRI '62.

Last weekend, a cash-strapped dealer offered me a NOS 2011 Am Std Tele for cost price.

In short, I believe that you can do better for the money.

Re: A question...

I don't really like the idea of buying Fender spec guitars that don't say Fender on the head stock. It might be petty, shallow consumerism and misguided brand loyalty, but if you're going to get get a different brand, why not go in a whole different direction?

Teles are known to have various shortcomings, which is fine if you're going to period authenticity, but part of that authenticity is Fender's name on the headstock IMO. For example I notice there's no truss rod access at the headstock. You might have to remove the whole neck to straighten it out. Most guitars come with 9's and I prefer 10's, so I almost always have to give the truss rod a 2/5's turn clockwise to make them at least as straight with 10's as they were with the 9's.

http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/ishibashi-shops/item/18-312128900/ pretty goddam close, it's so close I wonder it's not made in the same factory and everything.

http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/guitarplanet/item/fender_japan_tl62b_qt_trr_red/ even more sex appeal.

Re: A question...

Oh yes, I most certainly would! Chris that is quite sexy! Personally I would replace the guard with a mint-green/black/mint-green one. But that's because my Blacktop HH Strat has that and it's a color combo that truly takes my breath away. But even as... with that binding? I don't know how you can't.

Re: A question...

The chances are that I probably won't, but I would like a 60's style Tele Custom; bound body, rosewood fingerboard, and (perhaps the deal killer on this one) 22 frets.

Tut, tut.

No such thing as a Sixties Tele Custom. That came in with CBS in the Seventies.

The bound edge guitars from the Sixties are named Custom Telecaster and Custom Esquire, respectively. Leo was even kind enough to write it on the decal for us. :D

Re: A question...

No, but only because the looks aren't my thing.
