a quick 5-way wiring question.

I just rewired my knockoff Strat, and when all was done... It didn't work. But, I think i know what the problem was. The 5-way switch I have is different than the one in the diagram. Instead of having 4 contacts on each side, all 8 are on the same side and they are numbered 1-2-3-0-3-2-1. Thanks for any help.

Re: a quick 5-way wiring question.

There should be two zero's side by side. Then each 0-3 set is equivalent to one side of the two-sided switch. The zeros are the same contacts that are routed to the volume pot on the other switch. Contact 1 on each side of the switch is connected to 0 when the lever is all the way to that end. #3 of each side is connected to 0 when the lever is at the opposite end.

You should be able to work from zero each way and hook up all the contacts respective to how they were intended for the other switch.

Blast, that's what I figured, so thats how i wired, it, must be another problem. Oh, and i did forget a 0 in there.

Blast, that's how my cheapo switch worked...I think...last time I had it open...

What's the circuit not doing right now?

Haha, I found the problem. I have an aluminum pickguard, and the end of one of the hotwires was bent back to it.
