A Quick Les Paul Family Shot

See I'm the opposite. I think the neck is a wee bit too dark (but not so much that I don't like it), but IMO the PG bridge is the perfect "aggressive" PAF

And I do play aggressive music with a PG in the bridge too...

You're saying a PG neck is "dark"?!
I've lost half my high frequency hearing and it still sounds pretty bright to even my ears.

There are many variables to consider. The guitar's wiring, signal chain, amp, and even the player's technique. No pickup is going to sound the same in every application.

I'd be willing to bet it wasn't as scary as this was.

You have balls of steel. I'd never use an electric drill freehand to drill those holes. I'd use a reamer, or a pillar drill with a very specific bit (not a bradpoint) to neatly and safely drill out the holes. If the headstock snaps off, you'll not only have to fix that, but also can go to the ER because the fast-spinning wood will destroy your hand(s) and/or balls.

Ha ha I didn't learn what a reamer was until after I first posted that. Then A lot of guys pointed that out to me.

I kind of just treated it as a piece of wood and went for it.

I had just enough skill to pull it off... Or just enough luck. Either way it was a win.

Do you like those 57s Bob? I had them in an LPJ and they were kind of tasty.

And, how does The Paul compare tonally to your stds?

Go to pickup lounge and see "My Custom Shop Experience" regarding the 57's

As for compare;

Generally it is a solid Les Paul. Really like it, as I do most Les Pauls. Definitely a keeper, and I was prepared to return on day 2 if needed.
Neck is slightly different than the others, but close to my 70's guitars. Thinner than the Studio which is 50's style
The frets are a little higher than I'm used to. Not a bad thing, just a thing. There were no finish/polish issues though.
Remember - the pickups in most of them are SuperD's and Distortions. So tonally - not at all - LOL.

I have been playing the The Paul a bunch lately. The T-Tops are "ok" as they always were. Reminds me of a failure to create the Jazz that accidentally went into production. I may post about that guitar seperately.
